Harrigans Irish Luck
Out and About at Harrigan's...
News
With a $1,000,000 room, kitchen and bathroom upgrade underway, Hunter Valley Gardens’ four star accommodation property Harrigan’s Irish Pub & Accommodation is having a major refurbishment.  The property is one of the most popular hotels in the area, due to its close proximity to concerts and special events in the Hunter Valley.

Under the direction of General Manager, Leisure & Hospitality Division, Roche Group – Kyle Mc Kendry, Harrigan’s Irish Pub & Accommodation is now offering great priced accommodation and hospitality for the leisure, conference and corporate markets.  "From the time you arrive at Harrigan’s you can experience the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that our staff provide."

In addition to the room upgrade, Harrigan’s has had a new kitchen built that is proving to keep up with the fast-paced and busy environment the pub maintains, as weekend travelers flock in.

Excited by the prospect of being involved with the refurbishment of this Hunter Valley icon, Marques Interior services have designed a contemporary and light filled interior scheme for the accommodation rooms.

Using the amazing vineyard setting as inspiration, the designers have developed a scheme of natural tones and rich ochre’s, reminiscent of the surrounding gardens and landscape.

Kathy Marques of Marques Interior Services says, "The accommodation options at Harrigan’s will be rejuvenated with the inclusion of new split king beds, crisp white linen, and LCD TV’s, internet access and electrical appliances.  Wherever possible, we have incorporated sustainability into our design with the existing solid timber joinery being re-worked and high quality commercial grade fabrics selected.  This will not only provide durability and longevity but reduce our footprint on the environment."

"The team at Harrigan’s is ensuring that local businesses are involved with the refurbishment to provide local community support."

"We look forward to seeing our design come to life and being enjoyed by the guests staying at Harrigan’s."

Large open fireplaces are a feature of the property, which are also included in a number of the suites.  Guests can enjoy a peaceful afternoon reading, spend quiet time by the stone fireplace in the Pub or take advantage of the facilities including the pool table and cellar door.

Harrigan’s Irish Pub & Accommodation is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens with spectacular vineyard and mountain views making it perfectly positioned to offer guests an enjoyable experience in an ideal location.

Special accommodation packages are available until the refurbishment is completed and includes a nights accommodation, hot buffet breakfast for two, all for $130 midweek, and $150 on Friday nights also including entry into Hunter Valley Gardens for two people. Rates are per couple per night. Call 4998 4300 or email Harrigans@hvg.com.au

On Sunday, May 2, the annual “Blessing of the Harvest Mass” will take place at the Hunter Valley Gardens Chapel from 10am.

Celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Edward Cassidy who has been involved for over six years, the popular community mass will provide a special occasion for all grape growers, winemakers, those engaged in the Hospitality Industry and families throughout the region, to give thanks for the 2010 grape harvest.

Local Vigneron Jerome Scarborough says, “This seasons harvest was one of variation and commenced earlier than normal due to the seasonal conditions. We had some challenges with the weather but with persistence and endeavour we were able to successfully harvest our crops. This mass gives thanks and praise to our vignerons for their efforts and tenacity as they prepare for their next season”.

A pianist, cellist and violinist will provide entertainment at the event and following the service light refreshments will be served in the Chapel Courtyard.

The gathering has been very popular in previous years amongst members of the community, as those who attend enjoy meeting their peers, neigbours and friends to celebrate a good harvest in unity.

Hunter Valley Gardens Chapel set amongst the glorious backdrop of the vines and Brokenback Mountain Ranges is an ideal venue for such a celebration.

All people are welcome and invited to attend this special service.

To RSVP, please contact Alexandra Meissner at alexandram@hvg.com.au or call 4998 4072 by the 23rd April.
