Harrigan’s forms an integral part of a $1 billion master-planned marina and luxury waterfront development called Calypso Bay. Strategically positioned at the far northern tip of the Gold Coast, Harrigan’s Drift Inn is the only boutique waterfront tavern designed with boaties in mind.
Bill Roche, mastermind behind the development, knows how many boats ply the waters between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Power and sail, there’s rarely a day when you won’t find someone bobbing about in the Broadwater.
Not only does Calypso Bay have a spectacular deep-water marina with some visitor’s berths, the pub itself features a purpose-built 30-metre visitor’s pontoon. Positioned on the edge of the main channel linking Jumpin with the waters of Southern Moreton Bay, it’s already become a popular stopping off point with young and old.
That may be because Harrigan’s is about an hour north of the Gold Coast Seaway by motor cruiser and only a couple of hour’s leisurely cruise from Manly Harbour. Or it may be because of the unique blend of cool beers on tap, really good food and welcoming hospitality.
Whatever it is, boaties who know they’re going to be passing plan to stop and make a day of it. |
