Harrigans Rod and Custom ShowBy Elton Walker Queensland Chevrolet Car Club Inc.HOT RODDERS and car enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the third staging of the Rod and Custom Show presented by Harrigans Drift Inn, Guthrie Racing and the Queensland Chevrolet Car Club Inc. This year’s major sponsor is Oz Rods, the Hot Rod and Street Machine Specialists.
The show, to be held on Sunday October 17 at Harrigans Drift Inn Calypso Bay (Jacobs Well) will feature the coolest hot rods, classics, customs and street machines.
Organisers are expecting over 300 vehicles to be on show along the marina waterfront.
Previous winners have included Peter Elliot with his 1937 Ford Roadster, arguably Australias' top hot rod, Richard Clifford in the insanely detailed Torana street machine and Rick Werner in his 1932 five window coupe. These cars and more will return to compete again this year for trophies and awards totalling more than $5000.
There will be 26 categories (up from 18) for entrants including Top Car of the show, Harrigans Choice, Top Street Machine, Top Hot Rod, Top Muscle Car and Best Engine bay.
Trade displays, face painting and raffles will also feature on the day and food and drinks will be available both in the tavern and on the waterfront show grounds. Music by a rock band and DJ. A special treat will be the Stuart Bishop Diamond Doorslammer drag racing 1967 Camaro on show as well as an engine fire up. Action starts for entrants from 7:00am with gates opening at 9:00am for spectators. Giveaways will be announced throughout the day by a guest DJ. Trophy presentation after 2:00pm.
